Visitor Visa applications are processed in a few weeks or less. Processing Times are different for each visa office.
If you are in need of a visitor visa, then you need a valid travel document, such as:
- Valid Passport
- titre de voyage or
- certificate of identity.
Change of Address
If any of your information such as your address, telephone number or any contact information has been changed, the Canadian Visa office that serves your country should be informed about the change.
How is an application processed?
After an application is sent, the visa office checks to make sure all documents needed are present and it is complete. A visa officer will decide if you need an interview. If you do, the visa officer will tell you the time and place.
If your application is refused, your passport and documents will be returned. You will be told why the application was refused. False documents will not be returned.
If your application is approved, your passport and documents will be returned with your visa.
Note: Having a valid visitor visa and travel document does not mean that you can enter Canada. A Canadian official may find that you are no longer admissible because:
- your case has changed or
- there is new information about you (for instance, you lied on your visa application).
Medical exams may be needed for you to enter Canada. If you do, a visa officer will inform you on the procedures.
If a medical exam is needed, your application process might take time, because it will take time to set up and attend an appointment , and the doctor will need time to send us the results.
